Albennett Simmons, son of the late George Pompie Drain Simmons and the late Lillie Mae Small Simmons was born on January 10, 1943 at Socastee, SC. He departed this life on June 16, 2020, at his home.
Three brothers preceded him in death
He attended the public schools of Horry County. At an early young age, he joined Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
Some called him Billy, granddaddy, Albany and Pop. He was an extremely hard worker and took very good care of his family. He was loved by all who knew him. He worked at Ocean Lake Campground for 40 years, until his retirement.
He was joined into holy matrimony to Mildred Palmer Simmons, he was blessed to help her raise 8 beautiful children.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of the home, 6 sons, Demetris Palmer of Columbia, SC, Dennis(Beverly) Palmer of MBSC., Marvin (Patricia) Palmer of Columbia, SC., Henry (Lisa) Palmer of Montgomery Al., Andre Palmer of Burgess, SC., 2 daughters, Alzata Alston of Burgess, SC., and Jacqueline Palmer of MBSC., 3 sisters, Eula Mae (Rev. Fulton) Winningham, Rosa Bell (Jimmy) Gore and MaryJane (Elder Jim) Taylor. One brother, Ralph William (Vivian) Simmons 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, 1 great- great grandson, 6 brothers in law, 4 sisters in law, 2 aunts and a host of loving nieces, nephews other loving family and friends. A special friend the late Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Jackson. Special thanks to the Nelson and Jackson family, coworkers, and friends, thank you to my dear brother Ralph Simmons and family.
Al Bennett "Billy" Simmons of the Burgess community passed June 17, 2020. There will be a private graveside service held at the Heavens Gate Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel is in charge of arrangments.
