Alexis Johnson Obituary

Alexis D. Johnson was born on June 24, 1994, in Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, NY to Rodney Johnson and Nicole Saunders. Alexis left this life behind at the tender age of thirty on May 27, 2025, in Conway, SC.

She later became a big sister to Enyce Hampton.  It was at that moment, her protective instinct kicked in.  Protecting Nyce became her mission.  Alexis attended public schools in Conway, SC, and Yonkers, NY.  It was in high school in Yonkers, that she unknowingly connected with an old family friend and Rodney’s god-sister, Tanaysha, Nay-Nay or Taniya (to Nicole).  Together, Alex & Nay Nay raised the apple of their eye, Jaiden Sincere Hunter-Johnson. Although they were young parents and still trying to figure life out together, Alex and Nay Nay went to school, got their GEDs, and obtained any job that would hire them to provide for Jaiden. If she did not know how to do something she would look at the application and google a video to learn. This strategy enabled her to find jobs in different capacities, which included: landscaping, retail, fast food, construction, bar back, server, and maintenance. If she wanted to do it, nothing would stop her. If Alex were not working, whether it was in NY or SC, her spare time was spent with children, being the best aunt and playmate, any child could ask for. Alex’s favorite past-time was spending time at her GG’s house, stopping by every day just to make her laugh!

Alex has left us to join her brother, Rodney D. Saunders, whom she loved more than life itself; grandfather, Charles Saunders; great-grandmothers, Alice Anderson, and Bernice Price; and her godfathers, Antione Linton and Devon Pegram.

She leaves behind her son, Jaiden Hunter, and his mother, Tanaysha Hunter; mother, Nicole Saunders; father, Rodney Johnson; maternal sibling and her baby sister, Nyce Hampton and her father, Jeffrey Hampton; paternal sisters, Jaslyn, Skyee Tyler, Lauren, and their mother, Christle Washington; paternal sister, Pressley Johnson; paternal brother, Ryan Johnson; grandmother, Bernice Freeman and Terry Anderson Lindsey; grandfather, William Wheeler; nephews, Zanier Blake, Ethan Saunders, Elias Murray, Noah McNair, Ovi Johnson, Tathan and Nicholas Gaston; nieces, Leslie Diaz, Payton Saunders, Naomi Gaston, Aaryn and  Ashlyn Dimmie;  aunt, Michelle Lindsey; godmother, Dawn Wolfe; and last but never least, the family that chose her and that was chosen, Di’Anja Hunter and Sherry Nero, Sabrina Williams, Shatia Cole, Brittany Trappier, Rey and Kendall Wood;  along with a host of other family, friends and coworkers.

If she entered your life, she left a mark.  Adult or child, they loved her, and she loved people.  Alex will be missed but never forgotten…. Live. On. Lo.
