Alma Moore Jenkins of Myrtle Beach passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.' (KJV) Ecclesiastes 3: I-8
"A time to be born..." Alma Jane Moore Jenkins was born to the late Louis Moore Jr. and Francella Graham Moore on April 22, I95I in Bucksport, South Carolina.
"A time to love..." Alma was joined in holy matrimony to Marion Lewis Jenkins on September IS, I984.
"A time to embrace..." Alma received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a dedicated servant to Salem A.M.E. Church for her entire life. She served faithfully and diligently as Church Secretary, Treasurer, Steward, Steward Protem, Sunday School Teacher, Financial Secretary, and Recording Secretary for the Women's Missionary Society. She spearheaded numerous committees, giving of her time and talents. Her goal was to please God and to do His will by helping people.
"A time to get..." Alma was educated in the Public Schools of Horry County. She was an I969 Whittemore High School graduate.
"A time to build up..." Alma retired from a successful career of over 34 years in Horry County as a Deputy Clerk of Court for The Circuit Court of the I2th Judicial Circuit. She touched many lives that came through the justice system and formed many trusting relationships with judges and lawyers. Her leadership and dedication helped deliver justice to citizens in South Carolina. Alma fully embodied the verse (KJV) Matthew 25:40, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."After retirement, she felt that her work was not complete. She joined the Brittain Law Firm led by Tommy Brittain, a devoted friend whom she loved as a brother.
"A time to die... a time of peace..." Alma departed this life quietly on November 4, 2023, at Grand Strand Medical with her devoted husband and sisters at her bedside. She departed in peace with the same faith in God that accompanied her in life.
"A time to mourn, and a time to dance..." Alma's life has and will continue to have a tremendous impact on many lives. Alma was preceded in death by her son Derrick Jermaine Moore; parents Louis Moore Jr. and Francella Graham Moore; and a brother Ezekiel Moore. She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of dedicated Christian service to her loving and devoted husband Marion, and her grandson Dante Jermaine Moore, the love of her life. Three brothers, George Moore of Washington D.C., Odell Moore (Maedell) of Bucksport, South Carolina, and Larry James Moore of Springfield, Massachusetts; four sisters, Beatrice Moore of Bucksport, South Carolina, Fannie Mae Moore, Frances Lee Moore, and Doris Naomi Duncan, all of Springfield, Massachusetts; her many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and colleagues. Also her best friend and cousin, Joyce Graham Mack of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Salem AME Church in the Bucksport Community. Interment will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, at Hillcrest Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm Monday, November 6, 2023, at the church. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel is assisting the Jenkins Family.
