Alphonsa “Leroy” Chestnut, age 63 of Myrtle Beach, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2025, surrounded by his family at home. Alphonsa “Leroy” Chestnut was born on June 15, 1961, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to the late Mary Alice Chestnut and Elliott Frances Chestnut.
In 1980, Leroy graduated from Myrtle Beach High School and took on his father's challenge of staying around to operate Wagon Wheel Sports Grill and Bar. Leroy was the proud co-owner of Wagon Wheel Sports Grill and Bar with his brother Christopher. He retired from Wagon Wheel Sports Grill and Bar in 2015. After retirement, he enjoyed watching football, providing landscaping services to neighbors, walking, and sitting on the porch.
In addition to his parents, Leroy is preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Morris Simmons; and two sisters, Emma Mary Gore and Olivia Chestnut.
Leroy is survived by three brothers, John Henry (Lucille) Simmons, Reno Simmons Sr., and Christopher Chestnut; two sisters, Linda (James) Davis and Emily (Michael) Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
As a family, we will deeply miss the knowledge and wisdom of Leroy. He was an individual who showed love to his family through his actions of being present when you needed him the most. In addition, Leroy provided constructive criticism that kept us focused as we navigated life. We will keep Leroy's legacy alive by teaching the next generation to love their family and stand by them regardless of the curve balls life throws. Once again, we will miss him on earth, but we know the battle with lung cancer is over. It is well with our souls.
