Barbara A. Johnson was born on November 30, 1953, to Eugene and Ida Nesbitt in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was called home from labor to rest on Friday, April 25, 2025.
Barbara graduated from Myrtle Beach High School and furthered her education earning an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science at Frances Marion University. She met and married Woodrow Johnson, Jr., and to this union, six children were born. She was a member of Christ the Healer Church Full Gospel Baptist in Clarksville, Tennessee. Barbara was a dedicated employee, retiring after more than 20 years as a shipping and receiving supervisor at Wal-Mart Supercenter. She had great joy in dancing, singing, cooking, and crocheting. Barbara was an Honorary Member of Alpha Lamda Psi Military Spouse Sorority, Inc.
Along with her parents, Eugene and Ida Nesbitt, four sisters, Queen Hardy, Virginia Nesbitt, Deloris Dennison, Rosadell Ferguson, one brother, Douglas Nesbitt, one bonus son-in-law, John Oxendine, her in-laws, Pastor Walter Digsby, Linda Johnson, Woodrow and Liza Johnson, all preceded her in death.
Loved ones left to share fond memories and carry her memory in their hearts are her six children, Larry (Kristine) Johnson, Tiffany (Lollis) Benjamin, LaTasha Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Monica (Earlrica) Johnson Mcnary, and Monique Johnson; one bonus daughter, Latonya Oxendine; seven siblings, James (Jerry) Dowe, Dorothy Digsby, Arthur Nesbitt, Eugene K. (Khalada) Nesbitt, Melvin (Loretta) Nesbitt, Loretta Nesbitt, and Michael Nesbitt; her aunt, Nelly Corbett Hardy; 18 grandchildren, Quentin Johnson, Adrian Wilks, Jasmyn Becker, Mariah Johnson, Justin Gibbs, Yamoni (Sierra) Katada, Jalen Johnson, Tajania (Dujuan) Jones, Naomi Jones, Janya Benjamin (Axel) Hernandes, Isaiah Johnson, Hope Johnson, Jaeda Johnson, Brentney Armstrong, LeAshia Benjamin, Elias Benjamin, Amelia Johnson two bonus grandsons, Isaiah and Jeremiah Oxendine; 10 great grandchildren, MaKenzie Johnson, Taziir Johnson-Wilks, Trenten Becker, Malakia Johnson, Malana Johnson, Xayvir Wilks, Caroline Becker, Maddox Becker, Raya Edwards, and Onaja Jones; her in-laws, Will Johnson, Benjamin (Louvina) Johnson, Michael Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Sherry Johnson, Cynthia Johnson, Wanda Moody; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
