Barbara Ann Collins Vaught

Barbara Ann Collins Vaught, (64) was born July 28, 1955 to the late Ethelyn Washington-Collins. Barbara was reared in the Plantersville section of Georgetown County by Mr. & Mrs. Hammond Heyward. She answered her call on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.

Barbara was preceded in death by six sisters and seven brothers: Beatrice Heyward-Morant, Corrine Heyward-Deas, Lillian Heyward-Greggs, Gloria Heyward-Vaughn, Ruth Mae Collins-Lewis, Olivia Heyward-Neal, Herman Heyward, Prince Heyward, Robert Heyward, Jerome Washington, Joseph J. Washington, Curtis Collins and Alex Christopher Collins. 

Barbara was a Phenomenal Woman, which devoted much of her time to her God, family and her church serving all humanity with a sweet spirit. She attended the Public Schools of Georgetown County and was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School Class of 1973. She furthered her education at Horry-Georgetown Technical College with a degree in accounting. At an early age, she developed in Christian education at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plantersville, SC. In 1969, she joined Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully in many capacities.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memories two loving and devoted son: Travis Benjamin (Chanel) and William Joshua Vaught of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren: Kavonte, Kamoree Vaught, Alijah Vaught, Jaidyn Jackson and Jordan Jackson all of Myrtle Beach, SC; a special daughter, Brittany Watts; six sisters: Mary E. Brown (Willie) of Brooklyn, NY, Lucretta Enoch of Plantersville, SC, Sara B. Wearing (Jerimiah) of New Haven, CT, Deborah Warren (Joseph) of Mebane, NC, Millicent Wright (Sylvester) of New York, and Diane Davis of Myrtle Beach, SC; two brothers: David Heyward (Mary Ellen) of New Haven, CT and Joseph Nesbitte (Ruth) Lanham, MD; two sisters-in-law, Helen Collins of Socastee, SC and Apostle Janie E.H. Collins of North Myrtle Beach, SC; one brother-in-law, John Vaughn of New Haven, CT; a special cousin, Alberta Simmons; a friend, Kenneth E. Vaught and a host nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Sandy Grove Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm TO 8:00 pm Monday, January 20, 2020 at the church. Interment will follow at Ocean Woods Cemetery, Myrtle Beach, SC.
