Bernard Sylvester Brown was born on December 21, 1957, to the late Essie Bell Washington and the late Jim Jackson in Conway, South Carolina. Bernard departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Bernard attended Whittemore High School. He was a master carpenter and a jack of all trades with a passion for fishing. Bernard believed in family and he had a big heart. Bernard never met anyone who didn’t become a friend. He loved to laugh and have fun.
In addition to his mother and father, Bernard was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Gagum.
Bernard leaves to cherish his many precious memories two sisters, Faye Brown (Edward Richardson) of Columbia, South Carolina and Dawna Faulk of Conway, South Carolina; one granddaughter, Zion Atkinson of Conway, one niece, Tiehema Brown (Kevin McClinton) of Columbia, South Carolina; five nephews, De’Mario Cochran and Kwajae Faulk of Conway, South Carolina, Tyjha Osborne, Damon Fuller, and Demetris Fuller of Columbia, South Carolina; three great-nieces, Ti-Kayza Reese, Da’Moni Fuller, and Winter Grooms of Columbia, South Carolina; a very special friend, Sylvia Randall of Conway, South Carolina; special cousins who were like sisters to him, Elouise Williams and Stephanie Williams of Conway, South Carolina; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
