On November 25, 2020, God sent archangel Michael to guide the soul a loving, sweet, kind and compassionate angel to the golden gates of heaven. And when they arrived, God said “Well done my good and faithful servant”.
Bertha (Stanley) Parker, the daughter of the late Deacon Joseph Stanley and late Mary J. Stanley, was born in Conway, S.C. on March 9, 1933. Bertha, or “Muh” as she was affectionally known by everyone, grew up in the Oak Grove Community and received her education in Horry County public schools. Muh furthered her education and received her certification as a Nurses Aid from Bridgeport School of Nursing in Bridgeport, Conn. Bertha worked many years as a Nurses Aid for Norwalk Hospital until she and her family relocated to Conway in 1970. She then worked as a seamstress at Aberdeen Manufacturing until retirement.
Muh converted her life at an early age and joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a dedicated member of the Jubilee Choir, Missionary Society (President) and Sunday School teacher. Muh was a loving wife to William H. (Buddy) Parker who preceded her in death, a sweet, kind and compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, and great, great, great grandmother. She was a close sister, aunt, niece, cousin and caring angel to many neighbors and friends.
Bertha was joined in holy matrimony for 67 years to Buddy. This union was blessed with five children Ulave Smith, Willa Mae Dixon, Frances L. Parker, Barleen Parker and William H. Parker Jr. (Janice). Muh and Buddy soon expanded their family nest with their grandchildren, Bobby (deceased) Alicia (Lisa), Miranda, and Messiah (Pee Wee), Justin (Jett) and Brandon.
Muh leaves a legacy of happy memories to her five children, 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren, one sister (Barbara Gaskins) and was predeceased by Gertrude, Mackson, Ludie Mae, Geneva, Azalea, Mary and Martha. Two brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous other relatives and friends. Bertha, Muh, Ms. Bertha, Buck, Bert will be forever cherished by a multitude of friends, family, and neighbors. Bertha Stanley Parker passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Conway Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway. Ocean View Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
