Carroll Grissett of Myrtle Beach passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024.
Carroll "Drag" Grissett departed this life on December 6, 2024 at the age of 72. He was born July 5, I952 to the late Dozier and Mander Grissett in the Pine Island section of Myrtle Beach, SC.
One child and six siblings preceded him in death, daughter: Tonya Canty, Sister: Betty Williams and 5 Brothers: Tommy Grissett, Frank Grissett, Harry Grissett (Lynette), Charles Grissett, and Fred Grissett (Annette).
Carroll attended Horry County Schools. He was a man of many strengths and trades. For several years, Drag worked for Atlas Van Lines driving tractor trailers, Causey Plumbing, Holiday Inn Pavilion, and Carvelle Resort. He served years in the United States Army. Drag was one of the founding members of The Good Times Social Club, Fantasy Club, and Brothers United Social Club. Carroll was a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church and served sometime on the Usher Board.
Drag believed in strength and unity of family, as well as, he enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors. He loved all the kids and the kids loved their Uncle Carroll. He was a man of many talents and trades. There was never a dull moment when "Drag" was around. The dance floor hated to see him coming; he was always the life of the party!
Carroll leaves behind a wife, Odessar Grissett of whom he shared 5I years of matrimony. He also leaves behind 4 children: Kim Grissett-Rutledge (Glenn), Theresa Grissett, Ashley Grissett all of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Andra Grissett-Ray (Dameon) of Charlotte, NC, 7 grandchildren: Latisha Rutledge and Tyree Rutledge of Myrtle Beach, SC, De'Antre Patterson, Jaylen Ray, Brenden Ray, and Shaun Ray all of Charlotte, NC, and I expecting, I great grand: Jream Mason. Also he leaves to cherish 5 sisters: Fannie Jackson, Mary (Earl) King, Phyllis Gardner, Margaret (Cleodus) Williams all of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Doris (Clayton) Williams of Columbia, SC, 2 brothers: Joe Grissett of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Cleveland (Loretta) Grissett of Greenville, SC, 5 Sister in-Laws: Emma (Randolph) Graham, Dares (Jimmy) Mczeke, and Judy McCall all of Longs, SC, Carrie Grissett and Louise Grissett of Myrtle Beach, SC, A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also a best friend Wayne Feaster of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Carroll Grissett will be missed immensely by so many!
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at St. Mary Missionary Baptist church. Interment will follow in Pine Island Community Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel.
