Charles Lamar Chestnut was born in Conway, SC on October 1, 1998 to Stacey McCray and Charles E. Chestnut. He departed this life on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

 Charles attended public schools in Darlington County and Richland County Public Schools. He was employed at CMC Recycling of Lexington, SC.

Charles was a member of Mt. Triumph MBC in Conway, SC. Charles was a happy, calm-natured young man. He loved to give and re­ceive a good laugh. He always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of (or straight, as the young people say).

At the age of 20, he became a single parent and took excellent care of his baby girl. He was an awesome dad.

 He leaves to cherish fond memories, the love of his life, his daughter Ta'Jai Chestnut; his mother, Stacy McCray (Sandy McCray) of Columbia SC; his father, Charles Edward Chestnut (Stephanie McNeil) of Darling­ton SC; Grandparents, Henry and Elizabeth Baker of Conway, SC; two sisters, Brittany Ford of Columbia, SC and Shabree Chestnut of North Myrtle Beach, SC; two brothers, Cortez Sherman of Conway, SC and Jarius Chestnut of Columbia, SC; three step-sisters, Erin and Morgan McCray of Columbia, SC and Maya Alex McCray of Atlanta, GA; a special friend, Felicia Johnson (Kids - Quartez, Michael, Isaiah, and Zy'anna) and a host of family and friends, too many to call by name.

Charles Lamar Chestnut of Conway passed on September 12, 2021. There will be a viewing on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel.  There will be a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Hemingway Chapel Cemetery in Conway. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel will be assisting this family.
