Charles Grissett Obituary

Charles “Charlie” Grissett 80 departed this life on May 30, 2020. He was born January 23, 1940 to the late Dozier and Amanda Grissett in the Pine Island section of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Four siblings preceded him in death, Harry Grissett, Tommy Grissett, Jimmy Grissett, and Betty Williams.

Charlie attended Horry County Schools. For over 40 years he worked at Carolina Generator and Starter, in which he later retired from, after retirement, Charlie owned and operated his own mechanic shop, Charles Auto Shop where he was well known in the field of a mechanic. Charlie was the founder of The Good Time Social Club, he was a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and an Usher. He had a BIG heart and, left behind a GREAT legacy. Charlie was a family man who took great pride in being a GREAT father, role model, and a Pilar in his community of Pine Island.

Charles shared 57 blissful years in matrimony with Carrie Grissett. He leaves behind 9 children: 5 daughters, Angelene Grissett, Wanda Grissett, Sandy Grissett, and Wendy Grissett all of Myrtle Beach, SC., Betty (marc) Onley of Conway, SC., 4 sons, Alton (Tonya) Grissett of Columbia, SC., Charles Jr. (Jennifer) Grissett of Myrtle Beach SC., Decarius (Cheryl) Johnson and Elton Johnson both of Littlr River, SC., 29 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He leaves to cherish nine siblings, 5 sisters, Fannie Jackson, Mary (Earl) King, Phyllis Gardner, Margaret (Cleodus) Williams all of Myrtle Beach, SC., Doris (Clayton) Williams of Columbia, SC., 4 brothers, Junior Grissett, Joe Grissett, and Carroll (Odessar) Grissett all of Myrtle Beach, SC., and Cleveland (Loretta) Grissett of Greenville, SC, special friends: Ronnie Sherman, Jessie Gettings, Harold Blye, Rick Shelley, Tommy Jackson and the members of The Good Time Social Club, loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

 

 

Charles "Charlie" D.  Grissett of the Pine Island section of Myrtle Beach passed May 30, 2020. A Private Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Pine Island Cemetery.  Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
