Charlotte Scott Obituary

Proverbs 31:10-31- Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

Charlotte Burroughs Scott, the daughter and last living biological child to the late Oliver Burroughs Sr. and Annie Bell “Renna” Gourdine Burroughs was born on June 24, 1939, in the O’ceda section of Andrews, SC. She peacefully made her transition at her home.

Charlotte B. Scott was indeed a virtuous woman who at an early age gave her life to Christ and dedicated herself to the church, her family, her husband and the raising of her children. Throughout her life she served in many capacities giving 66 years of service to the Lord. Serving as president of the following: the Missionary Board, the Deaconess board, Sunday school teacher and choir president for many years faithfully serving Browns Chapel, Sandy Grove, Household of Faith, House of God Miracle Temple, Life Outreach and New Deliverance church. Charlotte’s professional career began with Philco-Ford Co. in Philadelphia, PA. and after attending nursing school she worked for Ocean View Hospital and Grand Strand Hospital as a delivery room specialist, at Belk’s Myrtle Square mall as a sales leader and after retiring from Belk’s she opened the first black owned women’s clothing boutique in downtown Myrtle Beach, SC (S&G Boutique). Her service to the Greater community was stellar. Always seeking to restore, change and transform people through outreach ministers, youth prisons, food banks, Indigenous Washita groups and Chaplin services county wide.  Yes, I believe its safe to say, we all shall miss her smile, her voice and light of wisdom that she gave and shared with all of us. A Virtuous woman, a wonderful wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, grandmother, friend, neighbor and elder.

On January 14, 1956, Charlotte Burroughs was joined in Holy Matrimony for 58 years to the late Paul Elyard Scott Sr. From this union they were blessed with 7 children.
