I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have served the Lord faithfully. Now, a crown is waiting for me—the crown that will show I am right with God. The Lord, the judge who judges rightly, will give it to me on that Day. Yes, he will give it to me and to everyone else who is eagerly looking forward to his coming. II Timothy 4:7-8
At 8:22pm on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Cynosa transitioned peacefully after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Deitrich, as she was affectionately called, was born Jan. 16, 1979, in Conway, SC. She attended Horry County Schools and was a top graduate of Conway High’s Class of 1997. In high school, she was very active, well-known, and loved by her classmates; a 4-year NJROTC Cadet, decorated officer, and female drill team commander, as well as a Varsity Volleyball Player, MatCat Cheerleader, Peer Mediator, & Beta Club Member. She continued her education at USC-Upstate, earning her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. In the Spring of 2003, Cynosa took the oath to serve her community with 2 hands by crossing the sands and becoming a member of the Xi Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. After returning to Conway, she became a member of the Conway Alumnae Chapter. In the true Dee fashion, one degree was not enough; she later earned Dual Masters in Criminal Justice and Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2010.
During her career journey of working in various capacities of case management and caregiving, she found that she had a passion for those with special needs and the elderly communities. She was often requested by families and agencies because she built her reputation by providing a level of service that was beyond excellence without exception.
In 2014, Detrich, along with Eric Roberts, welcomed their son, Troy-Eric Roberts, whom she loved and adored. She was the all-star sports mom, cheering from the sidelines, in true mom and coach fashion. Family time was always a joyous time for her; from eating good food, completing the latest Pinterest project, and she definitely didn’t miss a nap. She had a smile that would light up an entire room, a laugh that echoed, and a kind Spirit that just didn’t quit. Living a life filled with ambition, perseverance, and most importantly, love; even with her last breaths, she made sure those surrounding her knew she loved them. Dee has left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Those left to cherish her memories: her beloved son, Troy-Eric Roberts of Gwynn Oak, MD; her mother, Rosemary of Conway; bonus dad, Charles of Murrells Inlet; Siblings- Dexter (Rachelle), SC; Dwight (Melissa); Reshard (LaKeisha), Crystal, Stacy(Gabe) all of Conway, SC, NaTonya of TX, and Arsenial (Bryan) of Charlotte, NC; two aunts, Katherine of Conway, SC, Lisa (Brian) of Holly Hill, SC; best friend since 1st grade, Valentina (Edward) of Conway, SC; college bestie, Barikia Tate of Greenville, SC; bonus aunt, Dorothy “99” of Conway, SC; and a host of extended family including great aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
