David Ray Davis was born on June I6, I946 to the union of Ed and Ruth Davis in Bucksville, South Carolina. He departed this life on Monday, June 3, 2024.

Following his marriage to Geneva Davis for almost 35 years, he relocated to Bucksport, South Carolina.

He was a loyal employee of Lee's Roofing and Construction Company for many years until health issues arose. Despite this, he continued to manage small projects as much as possible. David was a devoted member of Salem AME Church for many years where he accepted Christ participated in the men's choir and served as a driver for church functions.

David was an ardent outdoorsman, affectionately known as "Red Man", with a zealous passion for fishing and hunting. His booming voice always echoed throughout any room, signaling his presence. When engaging in a conversation, one could always expect him to be direct and to the point, leaving no room for misinterpretation. In addition to being a skilled outdoorsman, he was also a handyman, always eager to offer a helping hand to those in need, even though he may have displayed initial reluctance.

No matter if he was called Papa, Uncle, Red Man, or simply David, he had an immense love for his family that knew no boundaries.

His devoted wife, loving parents, and other family members sadly preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Joyce (Joe) Williams of Conway, SC, and Saressa (Brad) Bromell of Georgetown, SC; three sons, Louis (Patsy) Mitchell, James Sherman and Rudolph (Rose) Sherman, all of Conway, SC; four sisters, Lottie Bellamy of Norfolk, VA, Easter (James) Spain, Ruth Wright of Bucksville, SC and Betty Sherman of Buffton, SC; one brother, J.C. (Qwen) Davis of Queens, NY; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Greene of Conway, SC and Bettye Rose of Rochester, NY; I2 grandchildren, I4 great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Salem AME Church in Bucksport.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.
