Deacon Fred Grissett of Myrtle Beach passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Fred Junior Grissett was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to the late Dozier and Amanda Grissett on September 8, I935. He departed his earthly life on Wednesday, November IS, 2023 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by love.
He was joined in holy matrimony to the late Annette King Grissett.
Fred was educated in the public schools of Horry County. He was a faithful member at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church where he was the Chainnan of the Deacons Board. In the early years, he was employed with Johnson Moving Company for 30 years and served as a police officer for Atlantic Beach for 22 years. Fred was also a 33' Degree Mason and served as the president of the Fantasy Club.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his twin sons, Sammy Grissett and Kinbell Campbell, and five siblings.
Fred or "Peabody" as he was affectionately known, leaves to cherish fond memories 7 children, Linda Dickerson, Dean Grissett, Mildred Carrequello, Cynthia Grissett, Loretta Campbell, Janice Grissett and Kim Grissett; goddaughter, Edith; a son raised as his own, Marcus Grissett; 3 sons-in-law, 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 7 siblings, Fannie Jackson, Mary King, Phyllis Gardner, Margaret Williams, Joe Grissett, Cleveland Grissett, and Carroll Grissett; 5 sisters-in-law, Carrie Grissett, Loretta Grissett, Odessa Grissett, Louise Grissett and Vonnie Harris; 4 brothers-in-law, Cleo Williams, Earl King, Clayton Williams and Charles King; a very loving and devoted friend Carolyn Keith and Mr. Kenneth Finkley, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, on Tuesday , November 21, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel.
