Earnie Grate of Myrtle Beach passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelations 21:4
Earnie Seymour Grate, son of the late Earnie S. Gilespy and Ophelia Grate was born on August 9, 1962. He departed this life for his heavenly home on March 14, 2023.
He was educated in the Horry County public school system. He graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1980.
Earnie was affectionately known as "Curt" to his friends and family. He was no stranger to hard work. He also worked for various businesses throughout his life along the Grand Strand and was always willing to help out a friend in need. We will forever remember him for so many things; the least of which was his uplifting and infectious spirit and smile, his love for his family and friends, and his ability to make you laugh without even trying.
His life meant so much to so many. He was humble and full of life, joy, and love. His life and memory will always be cherished by those of us who knew him, loved him, and had the privilege to experience life with him.
Earnie was preceded in death by his father, Earnie Gilespy, his mother, Ophelia Grate, and one Sister, Hermena Lawrence.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories his wife Patricia Ann Grate of Loris, SC; two daughters, Michelle Alston of Myrtle Beach, SC and Taquilia Grate of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Deshon S. Grate of Myrtle Beach, SC and SPC Curtis Deontae Grate of Fayetteville, NC; one step-son, Allen Goings of Loris, SC and one brother, Tide Grate of Georgetown, SC; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two special friends, Arthur Johnson and Leon Curtain; one special cousin, John "Itchy" King, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
