Edward James

Edward James was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on December 30, 1966, to the late Mary Frances James and raised by the late Mrs. Mary P. Willard. He departed this life on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Grand Strand Hospital. 

He attended the public schools of Horry County and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1985, where he played varsity basketball and was a proud member of the Myrtle Beach Seahawks. Upon graduation, he furthered his education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for eight years. 

Edward was a computer wizard who could fix anything involving computers. He was a huge fan of the Washington Commanders, formerly known as the “Washington Redskins” and was forever ready to place a bet at any time. He loved cooking outdoors for his family and friends, always smiling as he was accustomed to doing. Over the years, Edward was employed at Walmart #2712 and the United Parcel Service (UPS). 

Edward, fondly called "Pang", was deeply loved as a child and brought light to everyone around him. He enjoyed the spotlight and found happiness playing basketball in the neighborhood and on teams, a passion that reflected his joyful and spirited nature. 

Edward will forever be remembered by three brothers, Curtis James, Wilbur  “Mickey” James, and Gregory James; one uncle, Johnny Hennigan; three aunts, Debra Scott, Gloria Scott, and Betty Jean Scott; special cousin’s, Jennifer Dennison, Gail Dennison, and Renee Brown; two cousins who were raised like brothers, William Hennigan and Carlton Hennigan; one sister-in-law, Sherry James, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
