Elaine Grissett

Elaine Grissett transitioned peacefully on November 12, 2021, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Elaine Grissett was born to the late Roosevelt Grissett Sr. and the late Woodie Mae (Burroughs) Grissett on December 27, 1952, in Charleston, SC.  She attended Carver Elementary School and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School, in 1970. Elaine then furthered her education by attending beautician school. She also graduated from Bible College, at Life Outreach Church, in Myrtle Beach, SC.

She dedicated her life to Christ several years ago. She was a member of Life Outreach Church where she served on the Mother Board. Besides being a faithful mother in the church, she was also a Sunday School teacher for the Intermediate Class, one of the drivers for the Church conventions, and the church photographer for functions. She served faithfully in her position as a church mother, until she became ill. Mother Elaine Grissett maintained her faith by attending church via live stream, when she could no longer attend in person.

She was kind-hearted and a very loving person. She always gave back to the community. Mobile Meals of Myrtle Beach was one of her passions because she loved making people happy.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roosevelt Grissett, Sr., and Woodie Mae Grissett, as well as her great-grandson Jarvis Laquel Small Jr.

She is survived by her children: (2 sons) Kevin Grissett of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Corey Grissett (Karen) of Greensboro. NC; (1 daughter) Kennisha Bull (James) of South Korea; her grandchildren: Jarvis Small Sr. (Katie), Kendall Houston, Corbyn Grissett, Kollynn Grissett, Kalani Rush, Je’lani Bull, and Jordan McCray; her great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Small and Nariyah Small; her siblings Hester McKnight (John/deceased), Columbia, SC, Cornelius Grissett (Sharon/deceased) Myrtle Beach, SC, Patrica Blye (Harold Blye Sr./deceased) Myrtle Beach, SC, Bernard Grissett (Joane) Dallas, Texas, Barry Grissett (Ericka) Lexington, SC, Loretta McNair (Robert) Conway, SC,  Kenneth Grissett (Cassandra)Myrtle Beach, SC, Roosevelt Grissett Jr. (Renee) Raleigh, NC, Voncella Crawford (Alvin), Dillion, SC, Matthew Grissett (Rhonda/deceased) Myrtle Beach, SC,  Matthias Grissett (Pamela)Myrtle Beach, SC and Jerod Jackson, Greenville, SC. Elaine also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also will be missed by four of her special friends: Elizabeth Newkirk, Linda Holmes, Debra Mazyck, and Mary Holmes.

Elaine Grissett of Myrtle Beach passed on November 12, 2021. There will be a viewing held Wednesday November 17, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel. There will be a funeral service held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday November 18, 2021 at Life Outreach Church on Carver street in Myrtle Beach. Burial will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery in Myrtle Beach.
