Elder Nina M. Grissett of Longs passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there
is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8
Elder Nina Mae Grissett was born in January I, I9SS in Loris, South Carolina to the late Miss Georgia Mae Jones and Willie D. Jones. She departed this life on October IS, 2023 at McLeod Health Seacoast.
Elder Nina attended Horry County Public Schools and graduated in I973. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined the Freemont Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an associate Minister. She also served as an usher and participated in the Young Women's Auxiliary. She was a faithful member who would serve in any capacity that led to the glorification of Christ.
She was employed at Waccamaw E.O.C. for many years. Later she established Grissett's Day Care, caring for the children in Longs and surrounding areas.
Elder Nina was united in matrimony to her loving husband Mr. James Leon Grissett for 50 years. This union was blessed with four sons, Willie D. Jones, James Maurice Grissett, Harvey Leon Grissett, and Wallace J. Grissett.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Georgia Mae Jones and Willie Jones; one sister, Diane Jones and one god sister, Betty Lou Campbell.
Elder Grissett leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Mr. James Leon Grissett of Longs, South Carolina, four sons, Willie Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, Maurice (Traci) Grissett, Harvey Grissett, and Wallace Grissett of Columbia, South Carolina; one aunt, Helen Gibson; one uncle, Shack (Eunice) Valentine of Longs, South Carolina; one sister, Micey Gore of Longs, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Emma Middleton, and Lefola Chestnut; one brother-in-law, Joe (Sharon) Grissett of Conway, South Carolina; 2I grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nephew, Perry Lamont Jones of Longs, South Carolina and a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, goddaughter Ivey Hemingway, Bessie Crawford, Barbara Livingston, Mary Bellamy, Lucille Stanley, Ann Grissett, Dora Willard, Bertha McCray, and many other sorrowing relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Freemont Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.
