Elijah “Kidnapper” Goings Jr. was born October 28, 1929 in Georgetown S.C. to the late Elijah Sr. and Annie Goings. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dora Goings and his son Anthony J. Ellis. Three brothers; Charles Goings, Phillip Goings, and Samuel Goings, two sisters; Mary Jarvis and Annie Mae Weston.
Elijah attended school in Georgetown, and the Myrtle Beach Colored School before meeting and marrying Dora. He was Employed at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club shortly after it was established and remained there for almost 50 years until he retired as Chef. In later years, he dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on June 18th, 2005. He had great faith in his God, Jehovah, and looked forward to living in a new paradise.
He leaves to cherish his memory; one daughter, Renee Goings, and two sons, Philip Maurice (Deborah) Goings, of Myrtle Beach SC and Kenneth (Sandra) Goins of Corinth TX; one brother, Jacob (Emily) Goings of Myrtle Beach, three sisters; Effie (Willie) Tucker of New York NY, Idella (Henry) Bradford of Georgetown SC, and Mable Johnson of Baltimore MD. Also; 9 Grandchildren, 12 Great-grand, and 1 Great Great Grand along with an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Elijah Goings of Myrtle Beach passed on April 16, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.
