Mrs. Elizabeth Shubrick Gary was born on Hobcaw Barony Plantation on October 24, 1932, in Georgetown, South Carolina. She answered the Master’s call on Thursday, March 6, 2025, to rest from a life of 92 years.
She was married to the late Joseph Gary, Sr., and to this union, six children were born.
Mrs. Gary joined Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, many years ago and was a true woman of God. She was a faithful member, serving on many committees, including but not limited to the Senior Missionaries, Willing Workers, Usher Board, and Cuisine Ministry. Her favorite saying was “Always put God first,” and her favorite scripture was Psalms 23.
She was employed at Sea Mist Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, until she retired.
Along with her husband, Joseph Gary, Sr., a daughter, Jannie Nell Smith; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild preceded her in death.
Precious memories will be cherished by her five remaining children, Joan(Tracy) Manley of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Joseph Gary, Jr. of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Rubin Gary of Conway, South Carolina, Gayle (Napoleon) Smalls of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and Leroy Gary of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; 17 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
