Ester Washington

Ester “Ette” Lee Washington was born in Bucksport, South Carolina on November 17, 1958, to the late Shirley Mae Washington and Leon “LD” Hunt.  

Ester attended Conway High school and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.  Ette worked in the hospitality and service industry.  She had a love for life, the Dallas Cowboys, and her grandchildren.  She loved cooking while listening to her oldies.  Sundays was the best as she would call all her loved ones to come and enjoy dinner.

Ester entered into eternal rest on November 5, 2021, after an extended illness.  She is proceeded in death by her sister Lottie Thomas and brother Charlie Thomas both of Washington, DC. 

Ette leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Tony (Ramona Brown) Washington and Lafayette (Letarsha) Washington of Conway, SC; one brother Leon Hunt Jr of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren Fyquise Washington, Tanasia Washington, Lafayette Washington Jr, Tanaya Washington, Tamaya Washington, Tayquan Turner, Kwa’dell Bowman all of Conway, SC and Ayden Bostic of Marion, SC; two special aunts Nora (Jake) Jackson and Luella Washington who helped raise after her mother’s death.  She leaves a host of aunts and uncles that she cherished very much.

Ester also leaves five nephews John Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Chris Thomas all of Washington, DC Daiquan Hunt and Dante Hunt of Columbia, SC; three great nephews Arjune, Imene, and King Thomas and two great nieces Arjhanay Hunt of Washington, DC and Kailynn Freeman of Columbia, SC.  She had three very special friends Janice “Maxine” Tookes, Mary “Tootie Fruity” Whittington (who proceeded her in death), and Linda Grissett all of Conway, SC.  Ette had six special cousins that were more like siblings Sandra (Linwood) Spain of Brooklyn, NY; Linda (Curtis) Wilson, Robert (Phyllis) Jackson, Bobby (Yvonne) Washington, Eddie (Angelique) Washington, all of Conway, SC; Lisa (Spencer) Adams of San Antonio, TX and Sandra (Linwood) Spain of Brooklyn, NY.  Along with a host of cousins and friends.

Ester Washington of Conway passed away on November 5, 2021.  Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, November 12, 2021, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.  Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.
