Ethel McCray, who was affectionately called “Gator”, was born on July 12, 1953, in Longs, South Carolina to the late Kato and Ida McCray, He departed this life on Tuesday January 7, 2025.
Ethel attended Horry County Public Schools in South Carolina.
Ethel leaves to cherish a legacy of love and fond memories, one brother, Larry (Cheryl) McCray of Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Dora Bellamy of Longs, South Carolina, and Francis (Dave) Johnson of Trenton, New Jersey; one nephew raised as a brother, John Jackson McCray; one sister-in-law, Ora McCray of Longs, South Carolina; two aunts, Lela Bellamy and Rosa Floyd both of Longs, South Carolina; a nephew/guardian, Craig Bellamy; two nieces/care givers, Barbara and Selena Jackson; two loyal cousins, Joe McCray and John Bellamy; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family of Ethel “Gator” McCray would like to thank each and everyone for their heartfelt acts of kindness. Our hearts are overjoyed for everything that you have done; the prayers, a card, text, call, or even a simple smile, has made this transition more bearable. We ask that you continue to pray for our strength and understanding as time passes.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Freemont Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 202,5 at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, North Strand Chapel.
