Mr. Fred Zines Hemingway “Zena Boy” was born on March 20, 1964, to the late Jerlie Hemingway and the late Fred D. Stanley in the popular Community of Horry County. He departed this life on February 28, 2025, at Grand Strand Medical Center.
Fred was a graduate of NMB High School Class of 1982. In his early years, Fred joined the Popular AME Church. He and his siblings would attend Sunday school every Sunday morning. He joined the ACE Lead Choir and they would sing on TV in Wilmington, North Carolina, which broadcasted Early Sunday morning. The choir has made 45 recordings.
Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Wendy Wilson; his brothers, Shelton Stanley and Don Stanley; his grandparents, General and Albertha Hemingway, and Andrew and Annie Bethea Stanley.
He leaves to cherish sweet memories one daughter, Makita (Timothy) Grissett of Longs, SC; one grandson, Jayvion Hemingway whom he loved dearly; his wife, Inetha Hemingway; two sons, Travonne Hemingway of Charlotte, NC and Fredrick Moore of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; five sisters: Deloris (Ezekial) Evans of Longs SC, Evon Hemingway of Longs SC, Sharon (Ray) Scott of Longs SC, Judy ( Rev. Wayne Goff) of Little River, SC, and Fran McCray of Loris SC; seven brothers, Norris (Hazel) Hemingway of New Orleans LA, Darryl Hemingway of Longs SC, Waverly (Latoya) Stanley of Conway, SC, Fredrick Stanley of Myrtle Beach, SC, Marcellus Pratt of Mt. Calvary Community, SC, Don E. Stanley(Melissa) Stanley of Conway, SC, and Scott (Sheila) Vereen of North Myrtle Beach, aunts, Opal Bellamy, Mary Jane Green of Little River, SC, Helen Foutain (Dennis) of Longs, SC, Lula Mae Vereen of Longs, SC, and Fannie Carolina of Longs, SC; uncles, Bob Stanley of Longs, SC, Al Wilson of Columbia, SC, Dexter (Sarah) Hemingway of Longs, SC, Delbert Hemingway of Jersey City, NJ, and Isaac (Keyacha) McCleon of Longs, SC; two best friends, Donald Ray Hemingway and Tim Vereen, a special cousin, Ronald Hemingway, and a host of nieces, nephews, other sorrowing relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at McNeil Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Popular AME Church Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, North Strand Chapel.
