Gary Grate

Gary Grate of Conway passed away on July 31, 2023.  

Gary Reginald Grate was born in Conway, South Carolina on August 19, 1970, and passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023. He was the beloved son of the late Joann Grate and the late Thomas (Rose)

Jackson Jr.

After graduating from Conway High School, Gary pursued a

successful career in the workforce in Florence Darlington. Eventually, he returned to his hometown of Conway, where he became an accomplished metal worker. His dedication and skill in Ms profession were admired by those who knew him. Gary had a passion for playing cards and cherished spending time with his family. He had a warm and friendly demeanor, making him a joy to be around. Gary Grate is survived by five Brothers: Thomas (Carol) Wheeler of Frederick, M.D., Thomas (Cassandra) Jackson III of Conway, S.C., Raymont Jackson of Charlotte, N.C., Darrell Green of Conway, S.C., and Brandon Jackson of Albany, G.A.

Gary was preceded in death by Ms maternal grandmother, Mrs. Rosa (Late Mr. Andrew) Morant Johnson and other significant maternal relatives. Aunts/Uncles, Late Mr. Andrew Johnson Jr., Late Mrs.

Myrtle M. Chestnut (Rev. Lonnie B. Chestnut Sr.), Late Mrs. Zenobia W. Garner (Late Mr. George L. Garner), Late Mrs. Elaine W. Hunt (Late Mr. Larry Hunt), and Late Mr. Preston White. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, Mrs. Ermyn T. Hall (Mr. Eunice Hall)

Gary was also preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mattie (Late Mr.Willie) Dozier. Gary leaves behind Ms paternal aunts, Willeann (Fred) Smalls, Josephine (Eddy) Burgos, Legailia Alford, and a host of cousins and other close family members and friends to cherish his memory. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In honor of his memory, the repast will be held at [1714 HIGHLAND AVE] [AFTER THE SERVICES]. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to [Gary's Youth Charity], an organization Gary supported during his life.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 1:30 PM, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.
