A star was born on November 27, 1937 to the late Ola Johnson and Allen James. That start received the name of Geanwood Johnson.
She departed this life on February 2, 2021 at Conway Manor after an extended illness. Geanwood was the wife of the late James Cochran.
She was a faithful member of Greater St. James AME Church. She became a member of the Senior Choir and the usher board. She was a willing worker of the OES Chapter #323. In 1998, she started the "Birthday Rally" as a fundraiser for the church.
Geanwood was employed as an Horry County Schools Teachers Aide for 22 years until her health began to decline
She will be remembered as a "GREAT MOTHER" an provider. She was well known as a good cook. Her favorite dishes was pound cake and Mac 'n Cheese.
Preceding her in death, was James (husband), both parents, one child (Paula) and all of her siblings.
To cherish her memory are four children: Ila Harris, Steve Cochran (Robin), Karen C. Greene and Richard Cochran aka: Richie, six grandchildren: Angela C. Perry, Tash Cochran, Felicia Cochran, lesha Cochran, Kimberly Cochran aka: Kimmie and Marcus Cochran, seven great grandchildren: Tristan, Brayden, Christian, Cayden, Jakaria and Chris, two adopted children: Edward and Burroughs, one aunt: Mabel Johnson, one sister-in-law: Betty Ransom, Special friend: Elizabeth McCoy, special caregivers: Anna, Alethea, Sherry and Teresa, a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
Geanwood Cochran of Conway, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. There will be a graveside service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 6, 2020 at St. James AME Church Cemetery in Conway. Ocean View Funeral Home, Conway Chapel will be assisting the family with this service.
