Gladys Frances Pringle Myers was born on March 24, 1933, to the parents of Frank and Viola Pringle (both preceded her in death) in Georgetown County, where she grew up.
In 1951, Gladys married her high school sweetheart, Herman Myers (predeceased). The couple then moved to Harlem, NY in pursuit of a better life for their family. She worked several years at Mt. Sinai Hospital as a Medical Record Transcriptionist.
If you knew Gladys, you know she loved to dress and she loved to play the slots in Atlantic City. The mother of five also enjoyed bowling. Every Friday night, she’d take her family out for a night of bowling.
Gladys was very intentional about taking her children out to explore and experience places outside of their neighborhood. Because she also loved to drive and travel, on any given weekend, she and Herman would take their children for a drive up to the Adirondack Mountains, the Catskill and Bear Mountains in upstate NY, Montreal, Canada, the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, and Martha's Vineyards in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Every summer, without fail, the family came home to Georgetown.
Mom was intelligent, loving, caring, spoke her mind, a private person, independent, and very classy. We are blessed to be her children.
Gladys retired from Bronx Lebanon Hospital in 2000. At that point, Gladys and Herman, now both retired, decided to move back home to Georgetown, SC.
Over the years, Gladys was affiliated with several churches including Covenant Baptist Church and Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. She served God in various capacities such as the Deaconess Board, Senior Missionary Board, Trustee Board, and Kitchen Aid Board.
On December 23, 2021, Gladys passed away in her Georgetown, SC home.
She leaves behind 5 children - Frank Simmons (Barbara) of Burlington, NC, Hermandean Myers of Bronx, NY, Sandra Rutledge (Rev. F. E. Rutledge) of Georgetown, SC, Marvin Myers deceased (Yvonne), and Angela Myers of Bronx, NY.

Her 18 loving grandchildren called her Nana or Grandma Gladys.
