Harry Cameron, age 78 of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1947, in Lake City, South Carolina. At a young age Harry’s family relocated to New York City.
Harry lived a life rooted in hard work, love, and dedication to his family. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, New York, where he proudly maintained perfect attendance. Shortly after graduating, he married Ruby Salters and became a father to her son. He built a long career with Hi-Lo Steel Company in Brooklyn, working his way up to foreman.
After many years in New York, Harry moved his family away from the hustle and bustle of the city to the peaceful, slower pace of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He went on to build another long and meaningful career with the City of Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department, serving as a Parks ROW Supervisor. His work contributed to the care and enjoyment of the city’s public spaces for countless residents and visitors over the years.
Harry was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing and playing golf, pastimes that brought him peace and camaraderie. He was also a devoted sports fan, especially of NASCAR; where Dale Earnhardt was his all-time favorite driver, and the NFL, faithfully cheering on his #1 team, the New York Giants.
When Harry’s health declined, he became a resident at Oak Hollow Nursing Home in Georgetown, South Carolina, where he lived for two years. He passed away just a few days after entering the hospital, surrounded by love ones, while watching his beloved Giants win a game.
Harry was deeply loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Miranda Cameron-Bostick, LaTonya Cameron-Vereen (Lynwood), and Tashana Cameron (Jason Lanngren); his son, Treavis Salters; his brother, Abraham “Bay” Cameron; and his former wife, Ruby Salters Carrillo. His legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren, Darnae Cameron (Anthony Rivera), Rayshawn Bostick, LaTasha Bostick (Adam Manke), Georgiana Vereen, Lynwood Cameron Vereen, Dominik Horan, Kierra Bostick, Rhyana Horan, Jossalyn Vereen, Jay’zen Lanngren, and Jensyn Lanngren; and four great-grandchildren, Tatyana Rivera, Kailyn Manke, Aiden Manke, and Adam Ace Manke. He also held close to his heart, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who were like family to him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice “Flossie” Gathers Cameron; father, Henry Cameron; stepmother, Elizabeth Myers Cameron; brothers, John Henry Cameron, Eddie Joe Cameron, and Robert Myers; and sister, Nellie English.
Harry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His strength, and love for family will be cherished forever.
