Henry Baker

Henry Harold Baker was born into this world on July 16, 1943, in Conway, South Carolina, and grew up in the St. Paul Community. He was the son of the late Mr. Jamie and Mrs. Nettie Gowans Baker. On Friday, August 1, 2025, God in His infinite wisdom removed Henry’s name from the book of life following an illness to rest eternally in His saving grace at Conway Medical Center. 

Mr. Henry Baker was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Elizabeth Green Baker for 48 years. 

He was a deacon at Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Henry was one of the few black locksmiths in Horry County for over 30 years. Spending time with his family and fishing were among his greatest life joys. 

One sister, Patricia Baker Felton, and one grandson, Charles Lamar Chestnut, preceded him in death. 

He leaves to cherish his sweet memories two daughters, Mrs. Stacy Baker McCray (Sandy) and Mrs. Nikki Baker Samuels (Robert); one son, Mr. Brian Baker; and one special daughter, Teressa Holmes; five sisters, Hattie Mae Williams, Betty Booth, Shelvedean Asbury (Tommy), and Ruth Frinks; five brothers, Jamie Baker, Lloyd Baker, Johnny Baker (Rosie), Willie Baker, and Donald Baker (Jackie); two sisters-in-law, Virginia Rhodes and Naomi Tucker; 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
