Henry Lee McCray

Henry Lee McCray of Conway passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

Henry L. McCray was born in the Bucksville Community in Horry County on September 18, 1941, to the late Lucille Pryor and Isiah McCray.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was employed at several golf courses in the Myrtle Beach and Conway areas and had a great love for the sport.

Henry or "Geech" as he was so affectionately called didn't win any accolades mentioned but he does win the award for loving and enjoying his life to the fullest. He was a kind-hearted man and it was evident in his joking personality and he didn't take himself too seriously.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Isiah; one daughter, Marlene, and a stepson, Earl.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories his amazingly lovely wife, Mrs. Bernice McCray; five children, Henry "Squeak", Chuck, Maxine (Tommy), Perry (Neicey) and Nicole; thirteen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, a special niece, Norma Smith; other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the entire Patriot Hospice Healthcare Staff for the services of their nurses, aides, social workers, and Chaplin. We would also like to thank Bishop Melvin Spain and the entire St. John Church of God family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at St. John Church of God in Conway. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.
