Hilda Skipper

MS. HILDA MAE SKIPPER, (63) was born on January 1, 1957 in Conway, SC to the late Ollie Mae and Reverend Van Norton Skipper. She departed this life on Friday, January 10, 2020.

Hilda attended Whittemore Elementary School and Conway High School both in Conway, SC and graduated in 1975. She furthered education by attending Benedict College in Columbia, SC and also attended Morris College in Sumter, SC. 

Hilda was employed at Cherry Hill Apartments and the Housing Authority both located in Conway, SC. As long as she can remember, Hilda attended Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church and in 1975 she accepted the Lord and was baptized. At any early age, Hilda began singing in the choir and participated in recitals, skits, summer camps and many other activities of the church. She was a very active and dedicated member. She joined the Young Women's Auxiliary called the Sunbeams, she was a member of the Ushers Ministry and she was a faithful member of the Fellowship Choir and the Women's Ministry until her health began to fail.

Hilda was always diligent and hardworking in anything she attempted to do. She was a caring, fun loving person with a great sense of humor who enjoyed talking, eating, and traveling with her family and friends. If you said, "Let's," she would say, "Go" Her outgoing personality will be missed by all who knew her.

Hilda leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tamika and Michelle Skipper; two sisters, Ballery and Gloria; two brothers, Van and Marvin; five grandchildren, Jutwa Hollingsworth, Takova Sumpter, MyLove Bryant, Fyhirah Sumpter and Mia Bryant; one aunt, Idella Bessant and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2020 at Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel. Interment will follow at Rosehill Memorial Gardens, Conway, SC.
