Homer R. Wright

Homer Rudolph Wright was born on February 1, 1935, in Conway, South Carolina, to the late Buster and Jerrylee Wright. He passed on February 10, 2025, at the age of 90, at his home in Conway, SC. His beloved sisters, Ethel Lee Wright and Louise Brown, preceded him in death.

Homer knew the Lord early and lived with faith, love, and kindness. A proud graduate of Whittemore High School, Class of 1953, he soon moved to New York, where he started his career and eventually retired from Park Lane Elevator Company in 1991. After retirement, he returned to his hometown of Conway, SC, where he truly enjoyed life.

Homer enjoyed simple joys such as spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. Upon returning to Conway, he worked at Myrtle Beach National Golf Course, making lifelong friends and cherishing the moments spent with those around him.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cleo Wright, his faithful partner and companion. He will be fondly remembered by his sons, James Earl Moore (Harriett), Michael Wright, Duane "DD" Wright, and his stepchildren, Deborah McDonald, John Jackson Jr., and Alescia Jackson-Claiborne.

He shared a unique and unbreakable bond with his granddaughter, Atilah Claiborne-DeShazior, and many cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, particularly his niece, Sandra Brathwaite. His life was further enriched by his close friend, Madison Powell, whose friendship brought him great joy and laughter.

Homer’s presence was a gift to all who knew him. His laughter, wisdom, and love for his family will always be cherished. He lived a fulfilling life, valuing the closeness of those he loved.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel
