Isiah Simmons

Isiah Simmons of Myrtle Beach passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026.  Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel, is assisting the Simmons Family.

Isiah "Ike" Simmons was born on March 18, 1944, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to the late Sherman and Sarah Simmons. The eldest of six children, he carried the weight of leadership from an early age. On Thursday, June 18, 2026, Isiah went home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family.
Isiah attended the Myrtle Beach Colored School and later graduated from Whitmore Park High School in 1961. A standout scholar, he was recognized as one of the top students in his class. He briefly attended South Carolina State University before answering the call to serve his country. Drawn to Christ early in life, Isiah was a devoted member of Mt. Olive AME Church. He served faithfully on numerous boards and choirs and took great pride in his role as Sunday School Superintendent. He loved his church deeply and served with unwavering commitment.
Isiah joined the United States Army, where he became a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He later served as Military Police, demonstrating discipline, courage, and leadership. After completing his military service, he continued his dedication to public safety as the Chief of Police for the Town of Atlantic Beach, serving honorably from 1974 to 1979.
Following his years in law enforcement, Isiah became a well-respected caddy throughout the Myrtle Beach golf community. His love for the game made every day enjoyable, and he built lasting relationships across the Grand Strand. Over the years, he worked at several notable courses, including Myrtle Beach National, Belle Terre, and Heron Point. His presence on the course was marked by kindness, reliability, and a genuine love for people
and the sport.

Isiah also had a deep passion for gardening. He took pride in growing fresh vegetables and fruits, often giving them away to anyone who asked. His garden was more than a hobby it was an extension of his generous spirit, a place where he nurtured life and shared his harvest with joy. Known for his dedication to his work, whether through golf, community service, or his years connected to Ocean View Lodge, Isiah touched countless lives. His presence was steady, his laughter unforgettable, and his love for people sincere. He lived with purpose, humility, and a quiet strength that will continue to guide those who loved him. Isiah was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife, Rosiland M. Simmons; his brothers Sherman (his twin), Thomas, and William; and his sisters Annie Jane Smith and Esther Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Ivan (Stephanie) Simmons of Chicago, IL, and Ikea (Reginald) Simmons-Owens of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a proud grandfather to I'vonte Jamal Simmons and Ian Isiah Simmons, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by four sisters-in-law: Margret Love (James) of Tampa, FL; Katherine Burrell; Barbra McRae; and Lucille Simmons, all of Myrtle Beach; and one brother-in-law, Louie McRae (Ida) of San Diego, CA. Three special pieces of his heart, Crystal Vereen, William Simmons Jr., and Larry Church Jr., also held a cherished place in his life. In addition, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Mt. Olive AME Church.  Interment will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery.  The Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mt. Olive AME Church.
