James W. Walls
James W. Walls, 78 of 272 Stonewall Circle, Longs, SC, went to be with his Lord and Savior at home August 28. Born February 26, 1947, in Greensburg, PA, he was the son of Reverend Irvin and Myrtle (Roadman) Walls.
He married his wife, Debra L. Smeenk (Gair), on May 17, 1985. They celebrated their 40th anniversary this year. They were both avid bowlers in the Williamsport area and bowled in several leagues.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Michael A. Walls of Clearfield, PA, a brother, Donald Walls (Lynn), and Nephew Jason of Rockton, PA. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother (Keith) Walls.
James graduated from Dubois Area High School in 1965 and attended McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas. He worked for Hershey Foods for their Pasta division for 25 years. When Hershey ended their sales force, he worked for 2 years for the broker who took over the Hershey Pasta business until his retirement. He was an avid golfer in PA and was a 3 handicap when they moved to SC. He was a member of White Deer Golf Complex, as well as the Bucknell University Golf Course. He played for 2 years in SC before his health began to fail. He enjoyed reading as a pastime, enjoyed time at the beach, and his 2 golden doodles (Bentley and Bella).
James had been a member of St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church in Williamsport, PA, until he and his wife moved to Conway, SC, in 2013. They moved from the Conway area to their current address in November of 2018. James was a member of New El Bethel Global Methodist Church in Conway, SC.
On the request of the deceased, there will be no service, and the burial will be at the convenience of the family in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New El Bethel Global Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1342, Conway, SC 29528, in James’ memory.
