On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, while our Heavenly Father watched over the gar& of Greater St. James AME Church. He decided to include a graceful rose to H celestial bouquet. He smiled and chose the lovely Sis. Janie Sarvis.
Janie Saivis peacefully went to eternal sleep at 2am on Wednesday July 14, 2021, at MUSC, Marion.
Janie Bell Sarvis was born on April 18, 1931, in Conway, SC to the late John Evans Ransom and Jannie Ruth Anderson Ransom.
Janie began her walk with the Lord at an early age and joined The Greater St. James AME Church, she was a graduate and Valedictorian of Whittemore High School Class of 1949!
Janie was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. Wilbert Sarvis, February 5, 1950, and moved to Harlem, New York City New York. Several years later they moved to Brooklyn, NY To this union one child was born Cheryl Lofet Sarvis. Janie was employed and retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City as a financial advisor.
Janie and Wilbert (her sweetie) joined The Holy House of Prayer for All People Inc., and became an assistant Pastor Wife. She also served as President of the New Converts Club and a member of the Pastor's Aide Club.
Janie and Wilbert returned to their birthplace hometown and rejoined to The Greater St. James AME Church in 1993 where she became an Associate Pastor's wife. She also served as the President of the Stewardess Board.
Cheering Janie on to paradise is her loving daughter, Cheryl Lofet (Joe) Williams, two grandchildren who she loved deeply, Michelle and Sidney Torain, four great grandchildren whom she cherished, Gregory Asia, Sade all of Aynor, SC and Naomi, of Newport News, VA. Two sisters-in-laws, Mary Sarvis of Brooklyn, NY and Betty J. Ransom of Conway, SC, two Goddaughters, Yvonne (George) Washington of Powder Springs Ga., and Lori Hugee of Charlotte, NC, friends, Deaconess Rena Anderson, Mr. & Mrs. Edward Bulle, Matline Cox, Mable Johnson and Loris Seldon, Pastor James P (Brenda) Gause and the Greater St. James AME Church family, one loyal and devoted personal friend of 18 years, that preceded her in death, First Lady Ella M. Sangster, two longtime friends of over 60 years who also proceeded her in death, Eunice Canady and Thomasena Oliver. A host of nieces, nephews and other loving friends and relatives.
Waiting for her in paradise is her husband Rev. Wilbert Sarvis, her parents John and Jannie Ransom, sister Minnie Ransom, brothers Mildson and Thomas Ransom, In - laws and friends.
Janie Sarvis of Conway passed on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. There will be a funeral held 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 18, 2021 at Greater St. James AME Church in Conway. Viewing will be held from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. Saturday July 17, 2021 inside the Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel will be assisting the family with this service.
