Jimmy Darrell Gagum, Jr.

Jimmy Darrell Gagum Jr., affectionately known as “JD,” or “SLIM”, transitioned from this life on June 7, 2026. He left behind a lasting legacy of love, compassion, personal growth, and dedicated service to his community. His impact will continue to be felt through the countless lives he touched. Jimmy was born on November 17, 1991, in Conway, South Carolina, to Vanice Yolanda Sindab and Jimmy Darrell Gagum, Sr. He received his education through the public schools of Horry County, graduating from Conway High School with the class of 2009. 

At the time of his passing, he was enrolled at Horry Georgetown Technical College, hoping to further his education and become a commercial truck driver. Though his journey through life was not without its challenges, he faced each one with strength, dignity, unwavering resilience, and determination. He was committed to becoming a better man and making a positive impact on those who knew him. JD possessed a rare kind of strength, honest, unfiltered, love. He never hesitated to hold others accountable but always did so with love. He found purpose in uplifting the youth through back-to-school drives, Easter egg hunts, Christmas events, and other charitable efforts. His desire to give back was a reflection of the growth, compassion, and determination that shaped his formative years. He once said, “I could have easily gotten out of prison and moved and started over fresh, but I came back home to help my city. Talking about it and doing it is what separates us. My actions will ALWAYS speak louder than words. I'm going motivate the youth and show them there’s a better way than a grave or a jail cell. Just be patient, change is on the way”. Jimmy’s love for life was reflected in the passions that brought him joy and a sense of freedom. He had a deep appreciation for basketball and video games, moments where his competitive spirit and love for excitement truly shined. One of his greatest passions was riding his motorcycle, where he found peace, freedom, and a true connection with the open road. Alongside his Bike Life brothers and his dad, Jimmy experienced the thrill of the ride, the bond of brotherhood, and the unforgettable moments that made him feel most alive. The wind, the road, and the camaraderie represented a place where he could simply be himself, free, happy, and at peace. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with loved ones, whose lives were enriched by his presence, warmth, and generous spirit. 

He was preceded in death by cherished loved ones who welcomed him into eternal rest, his maternal grandmother, Brenda S. Sindab; paternal grandmother, Icea Lee Pino-Gagum; paternal grandfather, James Judge; a grandmother by heart, Joan Floyd-Brantley; aunts, Yvette Sindab and Doris Vandunk; uncles, Kevin Gagum and James “BUG” Gagum Jr.; and his special cousin, Cartez Lipscomb. Their memories and the love they shared with him will forever remain a part of his legacy. 

Jimmy leaves his cherished memories to his son, Erik W. Gore-Gagum; his loving parents, Vanice (Wendell) Vereen and Jimmy (Robin) Gagum Sr.; and he was also blessed with a Daddy by heart, Joseph (Momma Cheryl) Brantley; a maternal grandfather, Sam D. Sindab; his sisters, Kiahtae “Nyree” Gagum, Shaliyah "His Twin" Brantley, Rayesha Brantley, Omesha (David) Grant, and Ni’Angel Sindab; his brothers, Shelton (Manquel) Gagum-Brantley, Chris and Malik Brantley, Patrick Wilson, Desmond Goings and Damion Moore; his nieces and nephews with whom he held dear to his heart, Braylen Gagum, Loyalty and Lakeen Ford Jr., Lundyn, A'moni, A'mari, Ah’Jair, Malia, Malik Jr., Malani, Zhkariya and Amiyah Brantley, and R’aiel Woods; his aunts, LaTonia (Claude) Lipscomb, Sylvia Gagum DeLoach , Denise (James) Brown, Samantha (Darin) Eaton, Ametria (George) Griffin; his uncles, Prince and Samuel (Jeuan) Sindab, Jr. He is also survived by seven great-aunts, Cenita Gerald whose love, wisdom, and guidance were a cherished blessing throughout his life and Faye (Raymond) Jones; six great-uncles; two sons by heart, Briceon Knox and Kameron Nguyen; special cousins, James “BG” Gagum III, and Trey Chaplin ll; his brothers at heart, Rashill Brisbon, Brandon “Lil B” Anderson, Daniel “Lil D” Nguyen, Deron “Big Bro” Higgins, Carnail "Duba" Graham, and Dereck Bell; a special uncle and aunt at heart, LaDawn “Danielle” Grissette; a loving partner, Rose P. Nguyen, and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Though his time here was far too short, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. May his memory be a blessing and a source of strength for everyone who loved him.
