Jody Caldwell

Jody Caldwell of Sarasota, Florida passed away on September 19, 2024.  

Jody Daniel Caldwell was born on May 17, I972, in the Bronx, New York, to the late Bessie M. Dodson-Caldwell and Jimmie Lee Caldwell, Sr. On Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida, Jody peacefully took the hand of our Heavenly Father, leaving behind his earthly labors to find eternal rest.

Jody grew up in the Bronx, New York, where he attended Kennedy High School. As a lively and adventurous youth, he was always on the lookout for excitement and fun. Jody began his career with the New York City Housing Authority as a junior elevator mechanic, amassing over 25 years of experience in the field. He also served as an elevator inspector. A dedicated member of both the Teamsters and the Masons, Jody had a passion for sports, especially as a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His interests spanned far and wide, from a love of animals, motorcycles, and sports cars—anything fast—to being a Marvel comics enthusiast, skier, roller skater, cook, and even an amateur pilot.

Jody was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Caldwell; his maternal and paternal grandparents; uncles, Milton Caldwell, James Caldwell, George Dodson, and Sanford Crenshaw; aunts, Johnnie Louise Caldwell, Joyce Dodson-Flores, and Orie May Caldwell.

Jody leaves an abundance of love and lifelong memories to cherish to his father, Jimmie Lee Caldwell, Sr., and stepmother Lorraine Thomas-Caldwell; three sons, Jarren Roger Caldwell, Caine Isaiah Caldwell, and Aiden Jody Caldwell; two daughters, Celine Caldwell and Genesis Caldwell; his brother, Jimmie Lee (Rebecca) Caldwell, Jr.; two grandchildren, Caiden Isaiah Caldwell and Aliana Caldwell; his uncles, Dean Caldwell, Ernest (Crystal) Caldwell, David (Karen) Caldwell, David Dodson, and Wilfredo Flores; his aunts, Gloria (Horace) Caldwell-Ott, Sadie Caldwell-Crenshaw, Marva (Willie) Dodson-Pridgen, Ellen Caldwell, and Barbara Caldwell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, leaving a lasting impact on their hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Mason Temple Church of God in Christ.  There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service.  Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel is assisting the Caldwell Family.
