Joseph Green

Joseph Green the son of the late Eliza Mitchell and the late Joseph Curtain was born on March 30, 1952 in Pawleys Island, SC. He was preceded in death by his paternal parents Edward and Louise Green. He was better known as “Poey”. He went to Parkerville Elementary school and then Howard High School. After graduating he moved to Kinston, N.C. He was self-employed in landscaping for several years until his health begin to decline. On February 13, 2021 in departed his life in Kinston, NC.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Eather Lee of Socastee, Sherry Gee and Tryhine Mitchell both of Conway, SC, four brothers Ben Green of Pawleys Island, John Henry Green of Bayboro, SC, Nathaniel Green and Jacob Green of Kinston, NC.

Joseph loved his family, telling jokes, loved to dress classy and was willing to give anyone the clothes off his back. He was a very kindhearted man; he would always make you smile whenever you was feeling down. He would open his doors to you and show you compassion and the love that he had in his heart. His love was pure and well and spoke from his soul. He will be missed by everyone he loved and knew him.

He leaves to cherish eight sisters: Alberta (Ivin) Richardson of Pawleys Island, SC Pauline Ferguson, Annie Hemingway both of Conway, SC, Dorothy (Joey) Nesbit of Murrells Inlet, SC, Willine (Edward) Daniels, Bernade (Leo) Reed both of Georgetown, SC, Earline (Simon) Simmons of Columbia, SC, Helen (Keith) Jackson of Summerville, SC, ten brothers: Johnny McCloud, Jerry Mitchell both of Conway, SC, Henry Mitchell, Silas (Leisa) Mitchell of Myrtle Beach, SC, Eric (Leatha) Mitchell of Marion, SC, Henderson Green of Burgess, SC, Ed (Annie) Green of Fort Myers, FL, Lewis (Bonnie) Green of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph (Cindy) Curtain of Georgetown, SC, Napoleon (Gwen) Curtain of Charlotte, SC and a host of nieces and nephews. Special loving friends: Mona Green, Thomas Richardson, Special loving nephews: Jowan Mitchell and Billy McCloud. 

Joseph Green, formerly of Conway, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021, in Goldsboro, NC.  A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  Ocean View Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is assisting the Green Family.
