Joseph Montgomery of Longs passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
Joseph Montgomery departed this life on April 13, 2023. He was born on July 16, 1949, in Vance, South Carolina to the late Luella Miller Jefferson and Walter Montgomery.
Joseph obtained his education at Whittemore High School in Conway, South Carolina. He received four degrees from Horry Georgetown Technical College. The degrees included a diploma in Data Processing machine operator in 1976, in 1978 he received a degree in Associate Business and General Business, in 1980 he received a diploma in Electronics Servicing Technology, and a degree of Associate of Occupational Technology. He served 3 years in the United States Army, and 7 years in the National Guard as an E-5 in Vietnam and Thailand, one year each.
He attended St. James United Methodist Church in Burgess, South Carolina. Joseph enjoyed working as a machine operator for L&R and D&S site work both located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He also enjoyed fishing and hanging out with friends in Myrtle Beach.
Joseph is preceded in death by both of his parents Luella Miller Jefferson and Walter Montgomery; one daughter, Corin Montgomery of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; four brothers, Harold and Nathan Montgomery, Richard and Steve Collier of Conway, South Carolina; one sister, Margaret Collier of Conway, South Carolina; and one grandchild, Ashley Montgomery of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
He leaves to mourn and cherish precious family members his wife Debris Montgomery of Conway, South Carolina; two sons, Joseph (Yolanda) Montgomery Jr. of Patterson, New Jersey, and Price (Lisa) Montgomery of Longs, South Carolina; one daughter, Angie Montgomery of Conway, South Carolina; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, special friend Marilyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
Graveside services with Honors will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Florence National Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel.
