Joseph Pedraza, a loving son, husband, father, and dear friend departed this life on January 18, 2024. He was born on January II, I976 on the navy base in Philadelphia, PA. to the late Zaida Pedraza (Peddy) and Joseph Barrs. His mother was a Sgt. in the Navy and was one of the second set of Latina women who entered the military.

Joseph was referred to as Joe and Joey by his close family and friends. He graduated from West Haven High School and took college courses at NC A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was a Blacksmith apprentice with Colonial Tin in Greensboro, and a Reuse Technician with Fresenius Medical Center in Greensboro, NC, and Myrtle Beach, SC. Joe always returned to his first love of cooking became a certified chef and worked as a Grill master for Ryan's Steakhouse until their closing.

Joe worked tirelessly with the military and their families through the Strong Bonds Marriage retreats. Joe earned two gold Challenge coins (Highest Civilian Military Award) for exemplary service to the SC National Guard, Fort Jackson, and Fort Bragg.

He leaves to cherish his beloved and loving wife, Anita Shardawn Pedraza of I9 years, one cherished daughter, Zaida Marciana Pedraza of the home; his adopted parents, Estelle Todd and Ronald Todd of Tabor City, NC; a special aunt and uncle, Gladys and Jacinto Placencia of Portsmouth, NJ; mother-in-law, Hazel Todd of Lithonia GA; father-in-law, John Keel of Columbus, GA; two sisters-in-law, Lakresha Todd of New Haven, CT and Jamelah Todd of Lithonia, GA; a dear friend and sister, LaQuandal (Mark) Braxton of Myrtle Beach, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

We will remember Joe (Joey) with lots of love, gratitude, and genuine affection for the time that he was with us. His smile was contagious and he would keep you laughing just by being himself. He is gone but will NEVER be forgotten.
