Mrs. Lela Mae Bellamy was the daughter of the late Step and Frances Bellamy. She was born on August 29, 1921 in Longs, South Carolina. She was married to the late Paul Harvey Bellamy.
Lela Mae attended Horry County Public Schools and worked on the farm with several members throughout the community. She loved all her family as well as everyone in the community she met. She was willing to help anyone in their time of need. Lela Mae was the oldest living member of the Longs community and the only remaining child of her parents. She rededicated her life to Christ and became a member of the Freemont Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Paul Bellamy Jr.; and two grandchildren, Cortney Valentine and Tonie Lee Smith.
Lela Mae leaves to cherish fond memories her six daughters, Eunice (Shack) Valentine, Minnie Pearl Smith, Nancy Mae Bellamy, Pretricia Bellamy, Teressa Bellamy, and Mary Alice Bellamy, all of Longs, South Carolina; two sons, Paul (Nancy) Bellamy of Longs, South Carolina and Wendell (Joann) Bellamy of Tabor City, North Carolina; she also leaves 23 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, and family members whom she affectionately loved.
