Leverne Bessent was born July 27, 1945 in Little River, SC to the late Ella Jane Bessent and Phillip Frinks. He departed this life on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 75.
He was raised in the Little River section of Horry County. He attended Chestnut Consolidated High School. He worked in landscaping, construction. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather. Leverne also love fishing. He was a member of Mt. Calvary #2 Missionary Baptist Church.
He was married to Bobbie Jean Livingston Bessent and unto this union six children were born. The following children preceded him in death; Darrell Bessent and Shamala Michelle Bessent.
He had five siblings that preceded him death: Ruby Jane Williams, Willie Lee Anderson, Joseph Lee Anderson, Robert J. Anderson, Geraldine McCray, and Arlene Bickman.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Bobbie Jean Bessent of 51 years; one stepdaughter, Louellen Goodson of Longs, SC; two sons, Emmrick Bessent and Delton O'Brien of Little River, SC; one daughter, Sheena Latoya Bessent of Little River, SC; five brothers, Elder Phillip Junior (Apostle Carolyn) Bessent of Loris, SC, Carrol Phillip (Ida Pearl) Frinks of Pineville, LA, Carlton Frinks of Whiteville, NC, Vondell (Omelia) Frinks of Longs, SC; eight sisters, Ella Mae Bellamy, 011ie Mae Lance, Marylinda Vereen and Sylvia Jane (George) Siler of Little River, SC, Gladys Wilson, Martha Williams, Bobbie (Clarence) Freeman, all of Longs, SC, and Bernice Frinks of Conway, SC.
He is also survived by: 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving family and friends.
The family expresses love and gratitude to Rev. James L. Smith and Mt. Calvary #2 Church family, hospice staff, family, and friends for all their care, love and support shown.
Laverne Bessent of Little River passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021. There will be a graveside service held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 2, 2021 at Mt. Calvary #2 Missionary Baptist Church in Little River, SC. Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel will be assisting this family.
