Magdalene James

Mary Magdalene James was born on April 2, 1936, in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was the second child of 11 siblings, to Harry and Sadie Gore. She departed this life on June 17, 2021, at her home in New York City. 

She attended Horry County Public Schools.  She later met her husband, Richard James and from their union, three children were born: Peggy James, Larry James and Gloria James.

In 1963, she moved to New York City where she met her partner for life, Walter Bailey who preceded her in death. From their union of over 30 years, three children were born: Kevin James, Theresa James and Sheila James.

Faye was a stay-at-home mother who doted on her children and grandchildren.  She loved helping others and was always there for her family and friends when they needed her.  She was a giver of love, laughter, and strength!

She is preceded in death by four of her children: Peggy James, Larry James, Gloria James and Kevin James.

Her life will continue to be celebrated by: her two daughters, Theresa James and Sheila James of New York City; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; her eldest brother, Robert Gore of Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters, Elizabeth Ledbetter of Stone Mountain, GA, Shirley Gore of Myrtle Beach, SC and Annette Gore of Myrtle Beach, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Magdalene James formerly of Myrtle Beach passed on June 17, 2021 in NY. There will be a funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Friday June 25, 2021 at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory Myrtle Beach Chapel. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Cemetery. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel will be assisting the family with this service.
