Margaret Councill Obituary

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:57

Margaret Elizabeth Pickett Councill was born on April 14, 1946, in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina to the late Capers Edward Pickett, and the late Sarah Elizabeth Bland Picket. She was the second oldest of seven children from this union. Her oldest brother Johnny preceded her in death in 2020. Margaret grew up and matriculated through the South Carolina Public School System, graduating from Whittemore High School in 1965. Margaret received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from South Carolina State University. She earned her Master's degree and her Doctorate degree in Christian Education from the Cathedral Bible College in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

She met and married James Howard Councill III. They relocated to Waterbury, Connecticut in 1966, and years later moved to St. Albans, in Queens, NY, where they both joined and became very active for years at the Mount Calvary FBH Church in Brooklyn, NY. He preceded her in death.

After many years, Margaret returned to Myrtle Beach, South, and joined the Heaven's Gate United Methodist Church, where she became a Certified Lay Speaker & Lay Servant, Member of the Senior Choir, Church Treasurer, Teacher of Elementary Church School, and Adult Class, Superintendent of Church School, Prayer Coordinator, and Lay Delegate to the South Carolina Annual Conference.

Margaret experienced her spiritual conversion at an early age, by accepting Christ as her personal Savior, receiving water baptism, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.

Margaret always loved the church and the things that pertained to the people of God. She helped everyone she would come in contact with to do whatever she could to make their life easier. Even though she never had any biological children, she became a foster mom to so many children, giving them a home and the love that they needed to survive.

She is known for her faithful saying "TRUST THE TRUSTOR"!

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory four sisters, Reverend Elnethia Martin (Columbia, SC), Minister Rosa Moore (Columbia, SC), Overseer Betty Lawrence (Bear, DE), Angela Pickett (Snellville, GA); one brother, Joseph Pickett (Murrells Inlet, SC); three nieces, Alisha Pickett (Groton, CT), LaTasha (Conway, SC), Shaniqua Lawrence (Owings Mills, MD); four nephews, David Martin (Francine) of (Lake Wylie, SC), Norman Pino (Aynor, SC), Anthony Martin (Lake Wylie, SC), Joey Pickett (Ashley) of (Charlotte, NC); one sister-in-law (Shirley Pickett) of (Murrells Inlet, SC); a special sister Betty Wheeler ( Columbia, SC); her foster son, Robin Perry (Loris, SC); her foster daughter, Veronica Perry (Loris, SC), her church family, a host of cousins, friends and the entire Body of Christ.

Sorrowfully submitted,

The Family
