Mark Frederick Tidd, age 60, of Myrtle Beach SC, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 after a battle with cancer. Mark was a loving son, brother, and father; he was an avid reader, a lover of movies, and a friend to everyone that met him.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on December 22, 1961, Mark moved with his family to Stone Mountain, GA in 1969. He graduated from Stone Mountain High School and relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC where he was often the chief cook and bottle washer at Shamrocks, Burky’s Grill, and other beachside restaurants; reliably battening down the hatches and holding down the business during many South Carolina hurricanes. Mark was known for his generous heart, quick wit, and free spirit. He was always there to help anyone that asked and only sought kindness in return.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Charles R. Tidd and Ruth E. Shannon, and his stepfather Montague Shannon. He is survived by his son Evans Tidd of Myrtle Beach SC, stepdaughter Alexandra Reilly of New Jersey, brother Charles Tidd and his wife Dawn of Simpsonville SC, sister Beth Devaney and husband John of Cartersville GA, brother David Tidd and wife Rhonda of Woodstock GA, sister Allison Williams of Tucker GA, brother Eric Tidd and wife Kate of Decatur GA, stepsister Sharon Polensek and husband Bob of Sandy Springs GA; stepmother Frances Tidd of Alpharetta GA; nieces and nephews, Chad Tidd, Nathan Tidd, Meghan Cavin, Jack Smith, Mark Smith, Luke Tidd, Brandy Blue, Zoe Tidd, and Sydney Tidd who, along with all of us, will miss their Uncle Mark.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date to celebrate Mark’s life.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel.
