Maryland Dozier

Maryland Dozier of Conway, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Maryland Edwards Dozier was born on July I7, I960, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. to late Marion and Georgia Mae (Sessions) Edwards. She attended school in Horry County and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in I979. Maryland was a member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Maryland was a hardworking, dedicated person who poured countless hours into every role that she had. During her professional career, Ms. Dozier served as a nurses' aide as well as various other civil occupations until her retirement. At her leisure, she loved to crochet beautiful blankets, do her hair, and most of all spend time with her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. To know Maryland, was to know she was literally the life of the party. She had a passion for people, particularly children, and brought laughter and joy to everyone with her very presence. Maryland will truly be remembered and missed.

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, weary and desiring rest, Ms. Dozier departed for her heavenly home. Maryland's brother, Marion Sessions; sister, Leona McFadden; and grandson, Nathaniel Dozier, preceded her in death.

She leaves to forever cherish her in thoughts and memories her daughters, Michelle (John) Edwards, Jamea Dozier, and Danyell Dozier; six grandchildren, Juliean Edwards, Bryan Edwards, Marquez Gillispie, Jamerial Dozier, Meaja Dozier-Edwards, and Amajae Melecio; three great-grandchildren, Braxton Edwards, Braelon Edwards, and Hudson Gillispie; two brothers, Levon (Wilhemenia) Livingston and George (Kelly) Edwards; four sisters, Patricia Grate, Osie (George) Thompson, Christena Terry, and Georgia Lee Wilson; great-uncle, James Edwards; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery.  There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel.
