Matthew Grissett, Sr. was born November 6, 1971 in Myrtle Beach, SC to Roosevelt and Woodie Mae Grissett. Matthew attended Myrtle Beach High School and Graduated in 1990.
Matthew was married to Conovia Hemingway in 1997 and they had three sons.
Matthew later married Rhonda Turner and they lived happily until she gained her heavenly wings in 2016.
Matthew had several Jobs as a Truck Driver, Better Brands, Schafer Distributor and New South to name a few. His last employment was as a cook with Uncle John’s Restaurant
Matthew was a loving person that would go out his way to make sure you and your family were good. He did this countless of times without any question. At the mention of any distress, he was coming through! He loved people and loved their company.
Matthew Leaves to cherish three sons, Matthew (Awa) Grissett, Jr., Markyl Grissett and Marcus Grissett. One daughter, Angel Peterson. Four grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremiah, Eva and Alaiya. Thirteen siblings, Elaine Grissett (deceased), Mary Francis Scales, Hester (John- deceased) McKnight, Cornelius (Sharon –deceased) Grissett, Patricia (Harold -deceased) Blye, Bernard (Jonae) Grissett, Barry (Erica) Grissett, Loretta (Robert) McNair, Johnny (Cassandra) Grissett, Roosevelt (Renee) Grissett, Voncella (Alvin) Crawford, Jerod Jackson and Matthias (Pamela) Grissett. Mathew also has a host of nephew, nieces, great and great-great nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. One very special friend, Blanchie Pino.
Matthew Grissett of Myrtle Beach passed on September 19, 2022. There will be a viewing held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2022, at Mt. Olive AME Church. Burial will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery.
