Ozie Bell Chestnut Randall was born on July 1, 1931, to the late Rev. Charles Summer Chestnut and Lula Chestnut. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 29, 2026, at her home surrounded by her six children.
Ozie Bell received her education in the Horry County School System. In 1969, Ozie Bell began working at Sandstorm Nursing Home. worked there for several years and became one of the first certified nursing assistants in the area; she later transferred and retired from Kingston Nursing Center at Conway Hospital in 1996. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined Chesterfield Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her health declined. She also attended Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church for a few years to worship along with her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, her son, Alfrd Randall, and her daughter, Lou Mae Bellamy.
Ozie Bell devoted her life to caring for others. She worked for years in nursing centers, providing care to patients with a smile. She was kind, gentle, and deeply loved her family. She also loved cooking and preparing meals, and no one who visited her home ever left without a hot cooked meal. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and showed it through teaching, moral support, and a full cookie jar. She helped rear other children in the community and provided assistance when needed. She proclaimed Jesus by the way she walked, talked, and sang. She loved singing and humming about Jesus while she cleaned, cooked, and passed time with her family, friends, and strangers. Ozie Bell was a true servant of God who selflessly devoted her life to His Glory.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories two devoted daughters, Celestine (Lenwood) Crawford, Dottie (Raford) Cox of Little River, South Carolina; two devoted sons, James Aris (Minnie) Randall and Leern Weldon Randall all of Little River, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Costella Randall of Little River, South Carolina; her nieces whom she loved like daughters, Ernestine Gause and Ruby Patrick of Little River, South Carolina; one nephew who was raised as her brother, Rev. Lonnie B. Chestnut of Conway, South Carolina; on god-niece, Helen Oakley of Little River, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Celissa Stevenson, Larissa Bellamy, Lamont Randall, Canella Long, Melody Bellamy, James Myron Bellamy, Latasha Randall Johnson, Larina Crawford, and Shamira Williams, all of Little River, South Carolina; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
