Brother Raymond Mack Pugh was born on May 20, 1951 in Conway, S.C. He departed this life on July 22, 2020 at Grand Strand Regional Hospital following an illness. He was the son of the late Marie Rush Pugh and Preston Pugh.
Raymond attended Horry County Public schools. He went on to work as a caregiver, landscaper and as a custodian for Coastal Monument for the last 40 years.
Raymond accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized as a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member of the church. Raymond proudly served as an usher, holding the position of Chaplin for many years. Raymond worked in the church until his illness. Raymond was a humble and giving man of faith who encouraged anyone that he encountered.
Raymond was preceded in death by 8 of his siblings, Ethel Mae, Arthur, Calvin, Major, Bessie Mae, Joyce, Earl and Ethel Lee.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Two sisters: Ollie Bell James of Conn., and Margaret Pugh of Conway. One brother: Thurmon Pugh of Conway and his longtime companion, Laura Turner of Conway, SC. Children reared in the home by him, (Joann, Anthony, Ronnie, Pshanda, Kentrell, Gabrielle, Jeremiah, Zoie, and Jalayah) He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
“Ninny” as he was affectionately known was a loving and giving man who acted as a father figure for many of the children in his life. He was a man after God's heart who would help anyone. He leaves a legacy of love and compassion which now lives on in all of us who were privileged to know him.
Raymond Mack Pugh of the St. Paul community of Conway passed Wednesday, July 22, 2020. There will be a private graveside service held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Cemetery in the St. Paul community in Conway. Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
