PSALMS 129:8 The Blessing of the Lord be upon you.
I want you to know that I have moved. I received a call from God, the Chief Architect of my life, who informed me that my new home is ready and that I could move in immediately. There is peace, joy, and happiness here with no pain to bear. No strife or discontent; there is only sweet serenity everywhere as I go to my new home. See you there.
Today, we have come together to celebrate the life of Reiko Shimomura Mishoe, as she took her eternal rest on Sunday, March 29, 2020, at 03:15AM. The Lord let her know it was time to take her home.
Reiko Shimomura Mishoe was born on June 18, 1934, in Tokyo, Japan to Father, Shozaburo and mother, Hana Saito Shimomura. Reiko was preceded in death by her second oldest son Kevin A. Mishoe on October 7, 2007, and prior to that two sisters and three brothers.
Reiko met and married the love of her life Norman L. Mishoe Sr., while he was stationed in Tokyo, Japan as an MP of the United States Army. Norman L. Mishoe Sr. preceded her in death on January 24, 2008. He remained in her heart until they both will reunite again in their heavenly home.
Shortly after marrying the two embarked on a life in the United States (Dec. 1956) where she devoted her life to being a loving wife and doting mother. You could always find Reiko cooking, sewing, and nurturing her children.
Reiko was always surrounded by her in-laws. One, in particular, Retha Terry taught her how to cook southern dishes. Because of that she quickly mastered how to cook Homemade Southern Soul Food. No one in the neighborhood was ever turned away from the Mishoe apartment without a chance to sample a dish of her cooking.
Reiko adored all her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren/great-grandchildren, and friends. She had a special place in her heart for many of her friends. Too many to name here today.
Reiko had 22 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. She played a vital role in the upbringing of three grandchildren (Michael Jr., Boston L. III, and Tiffany M.).
Reiko leaves to cherish her memories: Norman L. Jr. (Jessica); Adrian (Christine); Michael Sr. (Felicia); Michelle (Larry); stepdaughter Frances (Tim); Extended family; Dorien, Mildred (Larry); & Matthew (Sherry); one sister, Michiko Shimomura; two brothers Yoshio and Moritada Shimomura, a close niece Fumie Tanako; 5 sisters-in-law, Lula Nelson (who played a vital role in the upbringing of Reiko and Norman’s children was adorned by Reiko); Mildred McCray; Helen (Dock) Hunt; Jesse Mae (Lonzel) Graham; Betty (Arthur) Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; along with her dearly close friend of fifty-eight years, Fumiko Garrett.
